Abstract:Emotional intelligence(EI) is a hot topic in recent years, especially in the field of business management. The definition of EI is enriched by the economic and social development. The models of Salovey & Mayer, Goleman, and Bar-On are the most popular to test trainees’ EI. It is positively related to the work performance of managers. Firstly, it has good impacts on motivating oneself and others by stimulating their potential abilities and using of their enthusiasm and creativity to improve work efficiency. Secondly, managers can enhance team cohesiveness by creating a positive corporate culture in order to improve team performance. Thirdly, in the process of organizational change, managers can effectively reduce the resistance and obtain maximum support from the employees to achieve organizational goals. Therefore, managers should pay attention to the importance of EI and develop EI competences to improve work performance to cope with the complicated business environment and the fierce competition.
