As an important part of EU horizon 2020, SME instrument aims to provide EU SMEs with breakthrough innovation ideas with the opportunity to industrialize research results. Biomedical and medical device is the industry with the largest amount of funding. The experience of funding technological innovation of SMEs by stages is well worth learning. Based on the analysis of EU horizon 2020 SME instrument projects, combined with the problems existing in biomedical and device industry in Qingdao, suggestions to promote the high-quality development of Biomedical and Device Industry in Qingdao are put forward.
