The paper compares and contrasts the levels of the advanced equipment manufacturing in Yunnan and the rest of China, and identifies the advantages, problems, opportunities and challenges of Yunnan’s advanced equipment manufacturing. With a nine-metric model, the paper examines the status of each equipment manufacturing industry, and proposes the strategy of hierarchical and categorical development for the growing of the industries.
