This article clarified the content and requirements of science and technology societies in serving the socio-economic development, analyzed the main activities related to policy advocacy of APS, summed up its advanced experiences and the enlightenment to China's science and technology societies, hoping to provide policy recommendations to improve the capacity of serving social and economic development for China's scientific and technological societies.
