Take Yuxi for example, this study uses the statistical data of 2000-2012, makes an empirical analysis on the contribution of tobacco industry to the regional economic growth, which based on the driving coefficient analysis and regression analysis. Research shows that through multiplier effect, each 1% increase in tobacco industry output value, on average, led to a 0.737% rise in GDP. The tobacco industry is an important pillar industry in Yuxi city, which makes a significant contribution to the regional economic growth. At last, some corresponding measures are also put forward.
