From the external surroundings, the main opportunities for the design industry of Shanxi province are the implementation of Rising Strategy of Central China, the proposal of the strategy of transforming and spanning development in Shanxi province, the establishment of experimental district for comprehensive reform in State-level, and the proposal of culture-prior strategy, etc. Meanwhile, the main threaten is the intense competition among different districts. As to internal surroundings, the strength is its strong manufacturing, and the weakness is lack of talent, and lower industry level. Basing on the SWOT analysis, the paper proposed such suggestions as giving full play to the leading role of government, improving the service system, promoting research cooperation, and strengthening its support system, etc.
