An index system of Chinese modernization are constructed. Entropy weight method was used to measure the level of Chinese modernization in provinces from 2010 to 2021, and the dynamic evolution and driving factors of Chinese modernization was analyzed. The results show that the level of Chinese-style modernization is in a slow growth trend, showing a descending spatial distribution of “east-central - northeast-west”, and developing from the southeast coastal areas to the inland. The high value area is mainly located in the southeast coastal area, and the problem of uncoordinated and inadequate development is prominent. The differences between provinces showed a trend of “declining and rising”, with the largest difference in eastern region and an increasing trend in central region. The analysis of driving factors of Chinese modernization shows that digital economy has a significant role in promoting the development of Chinese modernization. Digital economy promotes the process of Chinese modernization by enabling high-quality development of regional economy. The development of regional innovation and entrepreneurship and the upgrading of industrial structure have a certain positive impact on the development of Chinese-style modernization.
