The geological environment conditions of Chaensi Town, Xiangtan County, Hunan Province is analyzed, and the development characteristics of geological hazards in the town is studied. Adopting the susceptibility index method， seven main influencing factors are selected as the evaluation factors, including disaster site density，slope slope, rock and soil structure type, geological structure (fault), rainfall, vegetation coverage and intensity of human engineering activities the susceptibility and zoning of geological disasters in the market town are evaluated. The evaluation results are consistent with the actual situation. Through the prone assessment zoning, it can better provide a basis for risk assessment and risk assessment in the area, and provide guidance for the prevention and control of geological disasters.
