Using literature and data method, logical analysis method, etc., based on the new development concept,the effectiveness and dilemmas of the development of sports tourism in Hunan Province, as well as the practice mode and path choice of high-quality development are explored. Sports tourism development in Hunan Province are mainly reflected in the following aspects, including policy support is stronger, the degree of integration of sports and tourism is more in-depth, sports and tourism resources to tap a wider range of tourism space utilization is more effective,sports and tourism content of the product is more complete, the integration of industrial development is more powerful. However, there are still development dilemmas such as insufficient gravitational pull, top-level constraints, ecological mismanagement, weak interaction and lack of systems. The practice mode of high-quality development of sports tourism in Hunan Province can be explored in terms of mountain outdoor sports and leisure, red sports tourism bases, high-quality event building projects, customization of emerging creative products, regional and ethnic sports, and so on. Based on this, the development path is proposed from innovation and leadership, coordination and harmonization, green development, development and integration and common sharing, etc., which will help the high-quality development of sports tourism in Hunan Province.
